Machine Evaluations Process
Southern Michigan CNC provides Machine Evaluation services on CNC metal cutting and grinding machines.
This service is intended to prove machine capability and machine reliability. Our evaluation process includes analysis of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components. Following the evaluation process Southern Michigan CNC Service will provide our customers with a written report with all evaluation results and suggested actions to bring the equipment into a capable production ready status. Upon request SMCNCS will provide a fixed price quotation for any repairs, refurbishments or rebuilds. These services can be performed at the customers facility or at our 55,000 square foot facility in Jackson Michigan. Our typical evaluation includes the following task. (When applicable). Analyze Maintenance records with skilled trades and engineering.
► Remove any necessary covers and guarding to expose the machines mechanical systems.
► Perform Static measurements on any precision guide ways or box ways.
► Visually inspect the condition of;
► The operators panel, electrical cabinet, hydraulic hoses, pneumatic hoses, electrical cabling, power tracks, way covers and over all machine appearance.
► Inspect the lubrication system for proper function.
► Check draw bar clamping force.
► Static backlash checks on all axis.
► Static repeatability test on all axis.
► Static machine geometry alignments.
► Vibration analysis of spindle and induction motors, such as coolant pumps and motors and hydraulic pumps and motors.
► Back up all programs and parameters.
► Record servo load percentages.
► Record CNC control vintage and report availability of spare parts.
► Record machine vintage and report availability of spare parts.
► Perform Ball Bar test and record the following
► Backlash of each axis.
► Lateral play of each axis.
► Squareness of each axis to opposing axis
► Straightness of each axis.
► Scaling mismatch.
► Servo mismatch.
► Reversal spikes.
► Circularity error over programmed circular interpolated diameter.
